According to a survey by the American Psychological Association, around 90% of generation Z Americans (aged 15–21) exhibit symptoms of stress, depression and lack of motivation. Another survey shows that about 77% of Americans claim that stress is a regular part of their daily life.
Needless to say, stress is detrimental for our health and it’s important to deal with it before it breaks our spirit. Here are some ways to help reduce stress.
Prioritize your health
In the midst of taking care of others and staying busy with work, we forget to take care of ourselves. Looking after your health is perhaps the most important thing—you can’t help others or give your best at work if you yourself aren’t in best shape.
Give your health the importance it deserves and make time for yourself. Develop healthy eating habits and surround yourself with positive people and positive thoughts! Once you start taking care of your health, you’ll notice a positive change in yourself—a change you can definitely get used to!
A Healthy Sense of Humor is Good for You
Life has its troubles and everyone’s facing their own problems but don’t let that get to you! Learn to laugh at silly things, silly situations, silly jokes; and just laugh in general!
Learn to pick your battles and don’t let everything and anything affect your mood. Laughter is not just good for your health; it’s good for your social life as well. Besides, being angry or stressed all the time is immensely exhausting! Focus your energy on the right things and watch your life get better!
Gain Some Perspective
Being caught up with worrying about tomorrow, we end up ruining today—get some perspective and learn to live in the moment! Life is unpredictable and you can’t possibly control time; so why waste energy worrying about it?
Focus on the good things in life; love, family or anything that makes you feel warm and happy!
Take our advice: learn from the past, live in the present and don’t worry about the future!
Take a Time-Out
We understand stress can become a part of life; it can drain your overall energy and bring your mood down. Learn to deal with stress by allowing your mind the time to relax and recuperate.
Meditation is a great way of doing this! Give yourself a time-out and indulge in relaxation exercises like meditation, yoga or breathing exercises.
Change your pace every now and then; go grab a bite or meet a friend. Try looking at things from a different angle and let yourself take it easy!
